Pool skimmer replacement in the Phoenix Valley

Your skimmer pulls water off the surface and sends it to the filter. When it cracks, it can leak under the deck and leave your pump short of water, so we replace it with a new, sealed one.

A cracked skimmer leaks where you can't see

Skimmers wear out with age. Shifting ground can also crack the body or pull it away from the pool wall.

A crack there leaks below the deck, out of sight. Often the first clue is just water loss, or a pump that seems to work harder than it used to.

Signs your skimmer needs replacing

Any one of these is worth a look. Two or more together usually point at the skimmer.

  • Cracks inside the skimmer opening or around the lid
  • A gap between the skimmer and the pool wall or tile
  • Water loss that stops once the level falls below the skimmer
  • Cracked deck or coping right around the skimmer lid
  • Weak pull at the skimmer even with a clean basket

We replace the whole skimmer, not patch it

We don't put temporary patches on a cracked skimmer. We take out the damaged one and install a new skimmer, sealed properly, so water flows to the filter the way it should.

A skimmer sits under the deck at the waterline. To reach it, we usually have to cut out the concrete around it. We take care to protect the tile and finish close by.

A remodel is a natural time to swap it

If you're getting new tile or coping, the deck by the skimmer is already open. Swap an old skimmer then, and you won't have to open it up again later.

A skimmer can also be replaced on its own when the rest of the pool is in good shape. Gio Contreras, a third-generation pool builder, leads our in-house crews on both kinds of jobs.

Skimmer Replacement questions

Can a cracked skimmer be patched instead?

A patch may hold for a while. We replace damaged skimmers instead, because a new, sealed skimmer fixes the leak at its source.

How do I know the leak is in my skimmer?

Let the water drop on its own and watch where it stops. If it settles just below the skimmer opening, the skimmer or its line is the likely cause. We'll look at it during your free visit.

Will you have to break up my deck?

Some of the concrete right around the skimmer usually has to come out to reach it. We take care to protect the tile and finish around it.

Does my tile or coping get replaced too?

Pieces next to the skimmer may need to be reset. If your waterline tile or coping is already worn, you can redo them at the same time.

Can a bad skimmer hurt my pump?

It can. If the water drops below the skimmer opening, the pump can pull in air instead of water and strain. Fixing the leak keeps the water level and flow steady.

How much does skimmer replacement cost?

It depends on the skimmer and the deck around it. We look at it during a free on-site estimate and give you a price for your pool.

Can it wait until my next remodel?

If it's leaking, waiting means losing water and soaking the ground under your deck. If the crack is small and dry, pairing it with a remodel can save opening the deck twice.

Geovani was a super star to work with. His team came in and chipped, hauled and gave our pool a major glow up in record time! Three things come to mind when working with Geovani. 1. Customer satisfaction. We originally picked a tile and when we got it, realized it was not it. We picked a new one and were super pumped when it arrived. He handled the return and that process. He wanted us happy. It felt more than just replacing our pool. He cares about what you want! 2. His pricing and quality. Our pool surface is so smooth. No lumps, bumps and they even added our waterline tile in the steps. It’s a unique and beautiful pool. Can’t believe it’s ours! 3. Communication. I loved communicating in Slack. Genius! 10/10 would recommend. His reviews are legit and should we need his services in the future, we won’t hesitate to reach out. That also includes referrals! Attached before and afters. Aqua azul with coldwater tile for the waterline and we did do a bag of glass beads (had them apply more to the steps for that extra ✨ sparkle!).
