A Cactus crew member troweling a new finish into a pool

Pool plastering by our own in-house crew

Plaster is the coat that seals the pool shell and gives the water its color. Our crew puts it on for homeowners and for other pool contractors across the Valley.

The plaster finish lines we offer

Plaster comes in more than one grade. These are the lines we work with, from classic white plaster to small-stone pebble.

  • Plaster: the classic smooth finish
  • Quartz: Commercial and Sparkle
  • Polished: Artic Series
  • Micro pebble: Radiant Fusion Series, Universal Mini Pebble, and Universal Mini Pebble with Glass

Good plaster starts with good prep

New plaster only holds if the surface under it is ready. Loose or hollow old plaster has to come off first. In the trade, that's called a chip out.

Then the shell is cleaned and prepped so the new coat bonds. Skip that step and plaster can peel or pop off early.

Plastering for pool contractors

We also plaster for other contractors. If you build or remodel pools and need a plaster crew, ours is in-house, so you deal with one company.

Your first weeks with new plaster

Fresh plaster is still curing when the pool is filled. How the water is handled in those weeks shows up in the finish for years.

Our start-up service handles the brushing and checks the water balance. After that, some owners add microglass, a clear coat that seals the finish.

Pool Plastering questions

Can't find your answer? Call (602) 550-8627.

What's the difference between plastering and resurfacing?

People use the words almost the same way. Resurfacing is the whole job of replacing a worn finish. Plastering is the step where the new coat goes on, whether it's plain plaster, quartz, polished, or mini pebble.

Which plaster finish should I pick?

Plain plaster costs the least. Quartz adds color and stands up to wear better. For a textured floor, look at Radiant Fusion or the Universal Mini Pebble lines.

Why is my old plaster peeling?

Plaster can lose its bond to the shell over time. Those spots have to come off before a new coat goes on, or the new plaster can fail the same way.

Do you plaster pools for other contractors?

Yes. Our in-house crew plasters pools for other builders and remodelers. Call (602) 550-8627 to set up a job.

How much does new plaster cost?

It depends on the size of your pool and the finish you choose. Prep costs more if a lot of old plaster has to come off. Our on-site estimates are free.

Does new plaster need special care?

Yes, for the first few weeks. Brushing and steady water balance help it cure evenly. Our start-up service can take that off your hands.

Can I finance a plaster job?

Yes. We offer financing through Lyon Financial, and we can go over it during your free estimate.

Geovani was a super star to work with. His team came in and chipped, hauled and gave our pool a major glow up in record time! Three things come to mind when working with Geovani. 1. Customer satisfaction. We originally picked a tile and when we got it, realized it was not it. We picked a new one and were super pumped when it arrived. He handled the return and that process. He wanted us happy. It felt more than just replacing our pool. He cares about what you want! 2. His pricing and quality. Our pool surface is so smooth. No lumps, bumps and they even added our waterline tile in the steps. It’s a unique and beautiful pool. Can’t believe it’s ours! 3. Communication. I loved communicating in Slack. Genius! 10/10 would recommend. His reviews are legit and should we need his services in the future, we won’t hesitate to reach out. That also includes referrals! Attached before and afters. Aqua azul with coldwater tile for the waterline and we did do a bag of glass beads (had them apply more to the steps for that extra ✨ sparkle!).
